Julie Miller and Mina Stone are two Brooklynites—the former working in media production and the latter a private chef and fashion designer. Their blog, Luvin Spoonfuls, combines Stone’s palate with Miller’s eye for layout; both have a keen sense of design. While the saying goes that a dish’s appearance means nothing if it doesn’t taste good, the rich, chromatic imagery on display further renders that argument irrelevant. Buttressed by recipes and festooned with one-sentence, first person amuse-bouche, Luvin Spoonfuls’s auspicious beginnings foretell more eye candy and pocket recipes.

À la Broche
Stewart Voegtlin is a writer based in Georgia—a scourge and a wordsmith who is known for his metal blog <a href="http://www.thelefthandpath.com/lefthandpath/"target="_blank">The Left Hand Path, as well as his singular writings for magazines such as The Wire, Stylus and Dusted. À la Broche, his food blog, doesn’t have Luvin Spoonful’s strength of design—it uses a standard Blogger template—but its prose is as mighty as the dishes therein. Unusual meats such as veal liver, pork knuckle and cold lamb are the beneficiaries of writing that’s tantamount to the boldness of the dishes’ flavors. For an idea of Voegtlin’s pungent personality and inimitable style, check out this Q&A.
