A New York model and socialite from the golden era of Berard and Beaton, Frances Louise Ward amassed an infamous wardrobe reflective of both her impeccable taste and effervescent lifestyle. She was a champion of the greats, mixing American designers like Cecil Chapman, Mollie Parnis and Adele Simpson with international icons Pucci and YSL, and incorporating them with timely bohemian tunics and cotton skirts. Additional flash came from fur coats, croc purses and costume jewelry.
While Ward’s spirit may be elusive, this Saturday at the Tribeca Grand Hotel, 500 carefully curated pieces from her collection will be on sale. Spanning from the ’40s through the ’80s, there is an era for everyone. For newer wears, check out our weekly sample sale list in the upper right hand corner.
