Beauty and Body Lotion

It’s been a while since the desire for supple skin involved squeezing a sea cucumber or milling shea nuts and garden snails. Today, there is a bevy of mousses, butters and milks on offer, but only a select few provide that unique post-spa feeling of serenity and wholeness.

To start off with, Jo Malone Orange Blossom Body Lotion glides on ever so lightly and is just right for winding up the winter. The delicious orange scent would be too heavy for summertime, but really works in the cold.

For a blossoming start to spring, Robert Piguet’s Fracas “Lait de Soie” Silkening Body Milk delivers intense floral notes. Wearing it is like slipping into a chiffon veil of eau de toilette.

Ideal no matter the season, Santa Maria Novella Latte Per Il Corpo is actually like a latte (the drink), in that it’s creamy but not heavy—just like the gardenia and rose scent, which is flawlessly delicate and exquisite. The lotion’s all-around greatness is understandable considering Santa Maria Novella products have been “handmade the same way for over 700 years,” according to the company website.

For everyday basic, unscented body hydration, Kiehl’s Crème de Corps is perfection. The color, texture and smell are just like butter, but like butter it’s a tad on the greasy side. So wait a few minutes before getting dressed.

When summer debuts, a weightless alternative to Crème de Corps is McBride Beauty Cucumber & Aloe Soothing Body Lotion. Upon immediate application the cucumber scent comes through, but once on skin it quietly disappears. Also, McBride Beauty is made right here in Brooklyn, without sulfates, parabens, harsh chemicals, synthetic color or fragrance. And, of course, not tested on animals.

Finally, in a nod to leaner economic times, there is Vichy Lipidose Re-hydrating Body Lotion. It’s lightweight and instantly softens skin. Moreover, this covetable French skincare line is now available at Duane Reade and CVS.

i always enjoy solid body lotion recommendations…there are a few here i haven’t tried. thanks for the great review and suggestions.
for a those who enjoy the sheen of the “creme de corps” but don’t want to suffer drying time, the “butter”-y scent and the extra coin-try Keri’s “Original Formula”

    Loved this article.
Always need good solid advice from the experts, not the cosmetic company’s!
The writing was 1st rate, concise and easy to understand, as if my
sister were giving me a great tip!
More from this writer please, the best I’ve read, thank you.
I ordered McBride (3 creams!) from New London Pharmacy, they too were
helpful, waved shipping, and my WONDERFUL potions came the next day!
    It was magic.

Absolutely incredible. This first rate article is wonderfully well written and completely unbiased, unlike many of those cosmetic advertorials we’re all supposed to read and love. Well, I love this article and this writer, and I wouldn’t mind reading an entire website devoted to this writers extraordinary investigations into the true realities of great cosmetics. So so so so good. Did I but any of these wonderful cosmetics? I did buy them indeed, I bought them all. This is unbelievably so so so good. Kudos to you, kudos to you!
