Welcome to the first installment in Dossier’s coverage of Fashion Week in New York. While the official Fashion Week program commenced Friday, we were on hand Thursday night to preview the Fall 2009 collection from Vicente Villarin at Ralph Pucci’s Penthouse Gallery in Chelsea.
Drawing inspiration from magnetism and the alignment of objects in the same direction, the collection – entitled ‘Beauty on Form’- is the fourth offering by designer Joanne Reyes under the Vicente Villarin moniker. With a resume including assignments at fur house J. Mendel and with bridal-cum-ready-to-wear designer Monique Lhuillier, it was not surprising that Reyes’ chose cocktail dresses and gowns (including the taupe chevron criss-cross pleated and draped gown pictured above) to form the basis of her collection.
Favoring colors such as nickel, cobalt and cerillion blue and diamond white, the collection also featured a dress and form-fitting skirt in marigold maika and a jacket and dress in nickel point python embossed mahlia.
Stay tuned for more coverage of upcoming Fashion Week shows.
