Tillmann Lauterbach has a history of travel. German-born, he was raised in Ibiza and is now based in Paris, a background that gives his collection its trans-European touch. This season, the designer’s multicultural mix meant trademark materials and textures featured in an evolving color palette.
Starting with nude tones, key looks included men’s flesh-colored cashmere tailored blazers paired with Saville Row meets Bali reworked pants. Turning to grey, the designer alluded to the city with notes of concrete, smog and metal. Printed lightweight jeans and precisely cut jackets in casual jersey were worn with a relaxed Southern espadrille. The clothing then faded into darkness—as if the night covered the collection—with slightly heavier and almost protective mid-season pieces. Shredded jeans and fur-like sweaters were perfect for future temperature fluctuations brought on by global warming.
As a whole, Lauterbach took a step up this season, maintaining his signature laid back fashion and skilled tailoring while adding a cozy luxury feel.
