After a quick but much needed getaway to the Bahamas, where mermaid-like ocean living defined my days, I am struggling with sweaty NYC. There is nothing more spiritually healing than a dip in the salty sea. And with its myriad minerals, trace elements and balancing PH, it’s physically refreshing, too.
Luckily, in lieu of giving up the city for good, I’ve discovered Susan Ciminelli’s marine-based, aromatherapeutic products. They impart the same glowing dewiness that comes from a day of swimming and drying in the sun and, like saltwater, are exceptional for sensitive skin.
The Seawater Spray features, naturally, seawater. From Brittany, France, it is purified and slightly desalinated, so it’s rejuvenating without being drying. The Marine Lotion for the face and body helps prevent wrinkles and cellulite, and there’s a bevy of ocean-infused creams and cleansers. Ciminelli even offers vitamins made from seaweed, which promote beauty from the inside out. Finally, for full ocean immersion, her newly located, slightly hidden spa on 56th Street offers signature facials. If you can’t get to the beach, that is.
