Flipping through a mass of monthly magazines, I finally found something to stop my swift page turning: long structural dresses with the tiniest pop of color, like a small bow. The designer who captivated me is Alessandra Rich, and her pieces are singularly compelling. Her Fall/Winter 2010 The Storm collection is drenched in wet, drippy metallics and features long tailored gowns split to reveal lace turtlenecked bodysuits, layered jaquard and lace cloaks with boxer’s hoods, and gowns with attached capes. Rich’s pieces are mostly darkly concealing, but open to reveal peeks of skin, as highlighted in the above intriguing and oxymoronic exploration of structure and movement.
