Rick Owens at Paris Fashion Week F/W10

Two takes on Mr. Owen’s F/W10 collection:

It’s not clear whether Owens’ wife, Michele Lamy, was caught in the euphoria of the moment or speaking soberly when—immediately following the show—she said that it was the designer’s best ever. Either way, it would be hard to disagree. The long hooded sleeveless shearling parkas were stunning and the leather jackets were as unique and rock star as you’d expect. Owens, too, was calm and blissful afterwards. “He’s so far ahead,” Michele said when I asked if they’d been harried in preparation for the show. “This is easy.” Anyway, they make it look so. -Chis Wallace

Power woman marched down the runway at Rick Owens in zigzag patterned tights, asymmetric coats and jackets. There were even a couple of warrior queens reminiscent of an Inuit Cleopatra. Overall, the collection demonstrated the designer’s singular tailoring talent, while leather and fur pieces accessorized by wondrous wedge boots and furry Eskimo gloves added a touch of luxe. The geometric horn application on a sleeveless hooded coat gave a little folk feel, reaffirming that—as seen in his F/W10 menswear collection—Owens is all about the jacket. And there is one for every customer, from the fashion weirdos to the rich ladies.
