There was a certain giddiness in the air at Peter Jensen’s first New York Fashion Week presentation. Yes, the collection was quirky and retro with a charming British eccentricity that won the audience over. But it wasn’t just the darkly printed plaid velvet or the intriguing teal metallic knits that had them in a twist, it was surprise guest: Nina Persson, the ex-lead singer of The Cardigans.

Persson serenaded the crowd with love songs as the models sauntered past a charming illustrated Main Street in sportswear with a signature cheeky sense of humor that was even more playful than usual. In fact, many of the items—pom-pom hats included—seemed appropriate for wee wunderkind Tavi, who just happened to be in the audience.
