In one of his more amusing and relatable moments, Voltaire said, “A witty saying proves nothing”—that, along with, “Anything that is too stupid to be spoken is sung.” While both of these quotes call out language’s sly ability to seduce and influence, the photographs pictured here demonstrate the entirely different animal that emerges when words and images meet, one less prone to deception as to interpretation and inspiration.
The creation of Maryam Nassir Zaheh and Udar Kak, founders of Maryam Nassir Zadeh: one of New York’s best-curated boutiques, galleries and spaces in general, the images epitomize the store’s essence—just one of the many things we are grateful for. Happy Thanksgiving. xxDossier.
