Working in fashion editorial, I most admire Nick Knight for his work as the founder of SHOWstudio, which continually pushes fashion journalism out of its sometimes incestuous box. But Knight is also one of the industry’s foremost photographers, having shot iconic ads for Yamamoto, Dior, Alexander McQueen and editorials for The Face, Dazed & Confused (back in the Jefferson Hack and Rankin days), iD, Visionaire and more. His new book, simply titled Nick Knight, chronicles this work as part of his last 15 years and includes an intro by Charlotte Cotton, Curator and Department Head of Photographs at Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

In anticipation of the launch, I looked back on some of Knight’s work and was reminded of—and once again excited by—the photographer’s particular brand of unabashed and conversely uninhibited British creativity.
