John Varvatos at Milan Men’s Fashion Week S/S11

Celebrating his ten-year anniversary inside a building dating back to 1560, John Varvatos explained his S/S11 collection: “Characters are relevant: that’s what I always have in mind when I design. For this collection, I thought about a rock’n’roll gentleman in the countryside: an urban exile living far from the maddening crowd but still up for for an unexpected dose of dressing up…As ever, perfect imperfection is the keyword. With a well-deserved and much-needed dash of romance”

During the show, however, the thoughts this unique Renaissance building brought to my mind weren’t related to the imperfection, but rather the romance…being caught by these country gentleman. Get me on a galloping horse, then to turn me into a princess. Yeah, I may be dreaming, but blame it on Fashion Week; it’s exhausting.
