A Gucci collection for Gucci lovers, this mainly monochromatic show opened with white before fading to grey followed by black. The various hues each featured sporty variations of shrunken jackets (often in precious leathers) paired with high-waisted tight trousers, pencil skirts or fitted dresses.
Next came the ikat in black, white, blue and orange, followed by black blazers, slashed up the back to expose bare skin—a theme of the show, as nude patches were seen peeking through fabric strips on both clothing and shoes (high heels and platforms with cut-outs on the instep). Per designer Frida Giannini’s signature style, bags referenced the house’s heritage, but in a modern way, with bamboo handles, metallic red and oversized accessories all making an appearance.
A series of evening dresses closed the occasion. Echoing the season’s sci-fi theme by incorporating impressive metal components, they called to mind a sort of glamorous robotic armor fused with spider webs.
