Diane von Furstenberg—designer, entrepreneur, CFDA President, former wife of royalty, and present wife of Barry Diller—is no stranger to power, which made ancient Egypt a natural origin of inspiration for her S/S10 collection. One could imagine Cleopatra, Nefertiti or Ms. Furstenberg herself, crimped hair tousled by the desert wind, cheeks scorched by the sun, holding court alongside the Nile in flowing chiffon and shimmering jersey in shades of gold, deep orange and plum, set against a sandy beige background, with stunning blue beads to match the sky.

The models marched out to the thumping bass of Madonna’s Erotic assuredly, as delineated by their instructions posted backstage:

FLUIDITY
SENSUALITY
CONFIDENCE
STRENGTH
go for it girls!
*NO STOPS*

Coming from Ms. Furstenberg—words to walk by, dress by and live by.
