The most unlikely style icon of the week came at Danielle Scutt’s show, where her inspiration turned out to be…cockerels (known in the United States as the glamorous “rooster”). Yes, you read that correctly. More precisely, she was influenced by their pride and plumage, items which manifested themselves in the spirited grey, black, white and red collection.
The first look featured a flame-like motif on the jacket lapels, pockets and slit of the pencil skirt. The graphic, which referenced the birds’ coxcombs, was also woven into the collars of coats, a number of prints and the decoration on cocktail dresses.
From the skintight trousers to the corsetry and miniature jackets, the clothing possessed all the clout and hard-edged femininity that Scutt has become known for. In particular, one red-and-black corseted dress recalled how Scutt once described her work: clothes you can have a fight in.
