When I met Charlotte Pinson, I was immediately drawn to her whimsical pixie nature. Then I saw her hand-painted shirt and knew that I had found something special among the Made-in-China masses.
I was obsessed with deer at the time. So when she offered to make me my very own custom tee, I asked her for, well, deer. Now I wear it all the time. The paint doesn’t fade; it just gets softer and more watercolor-like. In the beginning, Charlotte stocked just her t-shirts at plum boutique. She has since gone on to create silk tops, dresses, tie-dyed scarves in happy rainbow colors and made-to-order curtains. And then there are her paintings; my favorite of which, “The Star Chasers”, hangs above my couch.
Using watercolor, acrylic, fabric dye, bleach, ink and more, Charlotte creates images that reveal the soul of a true, deep artist who is also a kid at heart. She once told me she was “that six-year-old that was always making potions and drawing on walls.”
Well—from one “wall drawer” to another—I’m sure glad she kept at it.
