Opium’s Literary Death Match (billed as a blend of Def Poetry Jam, American Idol and Double Dare) comes to NYC this week. It’s a mix of emerging and famous authors who perform a piece of writing in under seven minutes before an audience and a panel of judges. This Wednesday, Dossier contributor Emma Straub performs a piece she wrote about The New Kids on the Block against authors Kimberlee Auerbach, Robert C. Smith, and Melissa Petro, in front of judges supermodel Paulina Porizkova and author John Wray.
