The lovely Emma Straub’s first stand alone book, Fly-Over State is available at Flatmancrooked for $6. The copies are hand-numbered in an edition of 400. If you don’t know Emma or her writing, she is the cat’s pajamas (almost literally) and I promise you will love her as much as I do.

As a little unsolicited gift and for no special reason, my wife gave me a copy of Emma’s fabulous little book. I read it while watching Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker squeeze out a victory over two international golfers (both with names I can neiter pronounce nor spell)during Saturday’s “President’s Cup” matches. I ignored the golf (well, except fot the final hole)and was captivated by the story. From the first page where I met Mud or Mutt as the guy with skin the color of bread, Emma had me. I am dear Emma’s uncle and am widly prejudiced, but read it even if you are not a relative — you will also become a fan and will be anxious for her next. I have signed copy number 211.
