Grizzly Bear’s new record Veckatimest, out on Warp Records in four days, has already seen an immense amount of positive press, with many both in and out of the media (and perhaps presumptuously) referring to it as album-of-the-year material. Just yesterday, Pitchfork awarded the record’s second to last track, ‘While You Wait For the Others,’ not only with its Best New Music distinction, but also with the first ever perfect 10. In a sort of mixed blessing, the record leaked many months back (on the one hand, it was the start of the overwhelmingly positive media frenzy; on the other, it was poor quality and thus, for months on end, misrepresented the final product), and today the band rewarded the fans who waited, streaming Veckatimest in its entirety on their Myspace page.
And, as if that were not enough, they also released the video for first single ‘Two Weeks,’ directed by Patrick Daughters (see above), and filmed a Black Cab Session version of ‘All We Ask.’ Lastly, Sunday marks the beginning of a North American tour to support the release of the new album (see their Myspace for dates and details; many shows are already sold out).
