Chairlift live at the Journal

chairlift

A few days shy of embarking on an extensive North American/European tour, Brooklyn’s Chairlift stopped by The Journal’s Williamsburg gallery to play a short, sweet and semi-secret show. Admittedly, I had been skeptical of the recent Columbia signees, but listening to Caroline Polachek sing “I’m feeling great tonight” from soon-to-be-reissued debut Does You Inspire You in front of what might be the smallest audience the band will ever perform for again, my conversion to “fan” was finalized. Candle-lit, intimate and beautifully-executed, the only complaint I heard voiced -– and which I echoed -– was a wish that the set had been longer. Those of us left wanting more, however, are out of luck until the trio comes home for a couple dates at the end of April.
