I love finding old photographers whose work I don’t know about. Yesterday, looking through books at the Pompidou, I found this book called Street Seen that recently came out, which explores the history of street photography in America from 1940-1959. One of the six photographers featured is Ted Croner, who was a successful commercial and fashion photographer starting in the late 1940′s in New York. His personal work, though – streetscapes, many shot at night, and black and white pictures of people in the city – are what got me. I didn’t find many when looking around online, although I did find my favorite image from the book, which is above.
