
Dennis Stock is one of my favorite documentary photographers. Born in New York in 1928, he’s been a Magnum photographer since 1951. He’s photographed jazz musicians, movie stars like Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe, hippies, and urban landscapes, but my favorite of his work is his photos of California, and a series he did with James Dean in 1955. The image above is the cover of his book, Made in USA. Some other pictures that I wish I could have taken are posted below.
