Sometimes man’s interest in animals that possess human properties takes on a less subtle form than the one I mentioned in my previous post. Roger Caillois observed that people’s fascination for the bat must partly stem from our recognition of common traits (like pectoral breasts or a free, dangling penis), but in the world of furry fandom human properties are freely applied to animals regardless of any factual resemblances. The furry fandom is a group of people spanning the globe interested in beings that transverse the boundary between the human and the animal
The drawings featured here are made by a 50-year-old truckdriver in Southern California who goes under the pseudonym Raatoons. In his drawings, the attraction to furries conflates with his attraction to big breasted women, something that would probably make some of his peers accuse him of being a “furvert”. Although sexualized antropomorphism is not standard among furry fandom, it is an undeniable aspect of the genre that at times produces captivating results.
