I recently discovered the work of Austrian artist Nick Oberthaler, and in my search, came across an interview with him in Flash Art, where he quotes Catullus. This only amplified my growing appreciation for his sensibility. “Suns come and go, but when our light expires, we have to sleep an eternal night.”

Portrait Painter Sylvia Sleigh passed away this past week at the age of 94. Involved with the feminist art movement in the 70′s, Sylvia strived to portray the equality of both sexes and celebrate their sexuality as subjects rather than objects.
