BYG Actuel was a series of avant-garde/free jazz records put out on the French label BYG Records in the late 1960’s. The understated and repetitive designs now make for some of the most iconic record covers ever released, and the music is still considered to be some of the most extreme recorded.

The number "509" refers to the 509th Bomb Wing, which operates the United States' stealth bombers from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. The alien is a reference to the 509th's infamous lineage. This patch was eventually modified when Air Force officials insisted that the phrase "Classified Flight Test" not appear on the design.
