The incomparable opening eight minutes and thirty-seven seconds of Dario Argento’s Suspiria. Suzie Bannion, a young ballerina student from the States, arrives from JFK into a stormy German night. Goblin soundtrack, excessively Art Deco sets, and Antonioni’s cinematographer, Luciano Tovoli, combine to create an opening sequence so good it should be watched standing up.
