Open Air Movies

One of my absolute favorite things in New York in the summer is outdoor movies. Last summer, as you may remember, it rained every single weekend, and every Thursday as well, so I never managed to get to see any of the movies at Brooklyn Bridge Park. This summer I’ve been traveling so much I haven’t seen any either, but looking through what’s still happening, I really want to go do that. If you want to do the same, I’ve made it easy for you (and for myself). Here’s a list of some of the movies that will be playing outside in the coming weeks.

Bryant Park
Films begin at sunset, between 8-9 pm.
Goodbye Girl (August 9), 12 Angry Men (August 16), Bonnie and Clyde (August 23)

Central Park
Movies begin at 8 p.m. at Rumsey Playfield. Gates open at 6 p.m.
Shaft (August 18), Oceans Eleven (August 19), Sex and the City (August 20), Twilight (August 21)

Pier 54
14th St at the Hudson River, movies begin at sundown, 8 – 8.30 pm
Public Enemies (August 11), Star Trek (August 18), Annie (August 20)

Brooklyn Bridge Park

You can also check out Rooftop Films for a more eclectic mix of films being shown in various outdoor venues through September.
