The lovely and talented Katrina del Mar, like myself an alum of Nan Goldin Studio, is best known for her work as a photographer (including as a contributor to Issue #3 of Dossier). She’s also an experimental filmmaker, and she’ll be screening several of those projects next Thursday, August 27 at the Gene Frankel Theater at 24 Bond Street. There are two screenings, at 7pm and 9pm, being presented by Gail Thacker. Katrina will be on-hand for the screenings and a Q&A after the films.
Films presented include new scenes from her latest work, Hell On Wheels, Gang Girls Forever!, which will be premiering in October, SURF GANG, which awarded Best Experimental Film by Planet Out Short Movie Awards and was the recipient of a NYFA Fellowship in Video, Gang Girls 2000, and A Beautiful Death!
Having not yet seen Katrina’s most recent work, here are two things I predict: the films will be interesting, and the women in them will be hot. I can think of worse ways to spend a hot summer night…
