The Style Dossier for the Week of 10.31.08

Each Friday, Dossier will bring you knowledgeable style commentary, context and inspiration — a roundup of the week’s best style coverage — in no particular order.

1. I could wear OshKosh overalls every day of the week, and I love Guy Trebey’s fashion prose, hence “Fashion Report of 1920,” which reviews the enduring panache of Carharts, L.L. Bean and other American fashion nostalgia.

2. When it comes to style and, well, everything, we at Dossier like to promote thinking out of the box; thus explains my obsession with SHOWstudio.com and this inspiring project.

3. Throwing a little politics into the fashion fray — or vice versa — is only appropriate pre-judgment day. And there is no one better for the job than ex-Vanity Fair guru and editor of our my morning obsession, The Daily Beast, Tina Brown.

4. The first time I met humble and lovely Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz, I fell in love, and it seems he’s returned the love — along with music, color and more.

5. A selection chosen in the spirit of Halloween and all things weird, wonderful and slightly disturbing.
