Spring is here and the Lenora has an open roof with city views to complement this ace duo show featuring ice cream and a special song or two by Sleepy Doug Shaw of White Magic n High Life, not to mention Animal Collective dj’s for the after party two blocks away at Trophy Bar.
Yui Kugimiya and Clare Churchouse are two artists with differing styles yet a common tactile mode of making work. The second Hooper Apartment Show presents a duo install: Yui Kugimiya’s heavily textured colorful abstract canvases and stop animation paintings on video. Clare Churchouse’s clear mylar architectural thread pieces and minimal on-the-wall installations composed of nails, thread, pencil and tiny splashes of color in two and three dimensions. Both artists are based in New York.
