Tokyo Cat Cafes

I recently watched a movie about hostboy bars in Tokyo. There was a menu of guys for women to choose from, and the guy they chose would sit with them and party, try to get them to have fun, encourage them to drink a lot. It was sort of sad, sort of boring – about what you’d expect on the subject – and it made me think that Tokyo seems like a lonely place. Today I read an article about a similar set-up, in Tokyo cafes, except instead of a menu of guys, there’s a menu of… cats. Customers come, pay to sit, and bring treats to lure cats over to try to pet them. For the full (strange) story, read more here.
