There’s no debating the past few years’ most talked about beach accessory has been the collection of towels designed by superstar artists and produced by the Art Production Fund. So we’re all hyped on towels now, and the question has been who will make the next amazing incarnation? We’re happy to report the search is over. Our friends over at Butt Magazine have teamed with American Apparel to win first prize in towel design this summer. The limited edition, extra-large pink and black towels feature life-size, Butt-style images of artist Brian Kenny, adult film star Arpad Miklos, and a few other Butt faves, shot by photographer Marcelo Krasilcic. And the timing couldn’t be more appropriate. With Gay Pride week in full swing, all the boys are sure to need a good, sturdy towel for a number of reasons: drying off excess sweat while parading in Sunday’s march, laying around cruising at the Chelsea Piers, storming the beaches of Fire Island. If you needed a little more reason to buy one, a portion of sales from each towel will be donated to the Ali Forney Center, a NYC organization providing housing and services to homeless LGBTQ youth.
The towels are available at your nearest (gay friendly neighborhood) American Apparel, or online, at a very reasonable $45.
