Spread Love

The organization Mosctha is a Haitian not-for-profit founded in 1958. Initially started to provide health care to sugarcane workers, it now covers all areas of charity work in both Haiti and the Dominican Republic. They operate two mobile healthcare units that provide free health care and counseling to those in need, as well as provide clean water and other supplies to impoverished communities and operate a micro-financing system. Tonight, they are having a Valentine’s Day dance. If you are in New York and you are over fashion week, ten bucks at the door goes to a good cause and Santigold (the artist formerly know as Santogold) is DJing. I’ve never been to Haiti, but Mosctha’s website says that it is common practice when telling a story for the storyteller to ask: “Krik?” and only when everyone responds with “Krak” does the story begin. I love that. The Mostcha blog, KrikKrak features videos, stories and a bunch of amazing stuff, including a store where you can buy some beautiful things that go to support the cause.
