Screen Test at PopRally

If you haven’t been to a MoMA PopRally event, this Thursday night should be your christening. PopRally presents artists, works of art and exhibitions, screenings, situations, and parties all nestled in the evening at MoMA- drinks included! The last event I attended was a screening of Chris Cunningham’s latest music video for Gil Scott-Heron. The upcoming event, 60 Seconds of Fame with Conrad Ventur, will be a viewing of Andy Warhol: Motion Pictures exhibition, followed with a chance to record your very own screen test directed by artist Conrad Ventur. For those of you who saw the last iteration of Greater New York at P.S.1, Conrad had a magical installation in the basement in which three projectors were each filtered through a rotating colored diamond, all swirling the image of singer Shirley Bassey through the space. He’s the perfect artist to help us channel our own stoic nostalgia and the celebrity of self.

PopRally will take place this Thursday, January 20, from 8-11 pm at MoMA, 11 W. 53rd St, NY. Tickets are $15 in advance and $17 at the door. Ticket price includes cocktail reception, so you must be 21 or over to attend.
