Over the last few months, our friend Jill Bradshaw (formerly of I Heart) has been putting together a new side project, Magazine Party. An extension of Glenn O’Brien’s TV Party, Magazine Party aims to hold back from that technically slick feel that defines so many modern publications. Instead it takes a more DIY approach, focusing on a stripped down style where art is at the core of the design and content aesthetic. Friends have offered contributions that are a little left of center, utilizing the the space to expand on their usual work. The first issue includes barbarian drawings by Fergadelic, a comic based off Master of Reality song titles by Jess Rotter, Vena Cava paper doll cut out wardrobe drawings, Kenzo Minami pornographic mosaic collage, and many more. She will be selling a few copies of the zine Wednesday, September 22 at an art show curated by Jess Rotter in the Nightwood Pop-up Shop at 189 Schermerhorn Street in Brooklyn. If you can’t make it then, the limited-edition zine can also be found at Colette in Paris and Family in LA. For everyone else, you can send $25 to firstname.lastname@example.org through Paypal with your address and she will mail you one while supplies last.
