New York native Peter Sutherland’s photography should be well-known to a lot of you out there, so if you happen to be in L.A in the next 24 hours, check out his book launch at Family (probably the best bookstore ever), tomorrow at 7:30. Sutherland will be showing slides and video footage of the making of Muddy Treads, the latest release from Seems Books. Seems is a San Francisco-based, independent publisher known for its beautifully-bound, affordable saddle-stitched art and photography books.
Which reminds me: Is anyone else disturbed by the average cost of a nicely put together zine these days? Sheesh. Seems doesn’t seem (pun intended) to be putting out something new each month, or to be charging ridiculous amounts for some paper and ink-jet printing, so when a new title rolls of the press, it’s worth picking up.
Other new releases from Seems: Dave Shubert, Matt O’Brian, Brad Staba, Mike Pare and Joseph Hart.
